Curila gets better almost every day. Here’s what’s been added, always with dates. If you’re missing something or find something annoying, let us know.
At the bottom of your profile, you can now delete your account yourself, including your learning progress, vocabulary, personal Stories, and email settings. You just need to confirm once, and then it's gone for good.
In your profile and via the link in every email, you can choose what you want to be informed about: new Stories, learning reminders, tips. You can also set your learning languages as favorites, so you'll only get updates about the languages that really interest you.
If you tap on a word in the text, a little speaker now sits next to the translation. It speaks that one word as often as you want. Handy if you're stuck on a spot and want to repeat it clearly without hearing the whole Story.
When you generate a story, four to five comprehension questions come along. They appear under the story in My Stories and will be included in the PDF if you secure it with questions.
Above each story, there's a button for PDF. Behind it, you'll find three versions to download: just the story, with questions to check, or with questions and answers. With Curila header, made for printing.
The arrow in the top right of the text card opens the story in fullscreen, you only scroll through the text. Word card, highlighting, and player stay on board. And in the word card, there's now the link Read from here: Curila starts exactly at this sentence.
The pill in the header now only selects your learning language, just one click. The language you speak is set in the footer or in your profile. Vocabulary now shows only the current language pair.
In Vocabulary, you can now see your words as a list with search and filters, edit them, hide or delete them, and create your own vocabulary. Reviewing happens in a popup with cards, and actions remain accessible there.
Under Contact, you can now write to us directly: report a bug in a Story or in the app, request a feature, or ask a question. You'll get a reply via email.
The interface is now also available in Spanish, French, Italian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic, and Persian. Arabic and Persian run from right to left. You get translations in your language.
The spacebar starts and pauses the reading. While scrolling, a small bar with play and pause stays visible, and if you scroll yourself, the automatic scrolling pauses briefly.
Uploaded and generated Stories can now be read aloud just like the Stories from the library. You can delete Stories you no longer need.
Choose a topic, language, and level, and Curila will write you a fitting Story, either as a narrative or a dialogue. You can try it out without an account, and with an account, the Story goes into My Stories.
Spanish is now the fourth learning language alongside German, English, and Polish. The first Stories are here, with more to come.
Stories in dialogue form are read with a unique voice for each speaker. It sounds like a little audio play and makes conversations much easier to follow.
At the top and bottom of each Story, you now find links to the previous and next Story, as well as an overview. At the end, Curila suggests what you might want to read next.
With the gear icon on each card, you can remove a word or set a fixed repetition frequency. The Latest filter shows you the most recently saved words, with words from new Stories coming first.
Nine new Stories at B1, B2, and C1 for German, English, and Polish. Curila now covers levels from A1 to C1.
While reading aloud, the current word or sentence is highlighted in the text, and the page scrolls along. In the player, you can set whether you want to highlight the word, sentence, or nothing at all.
At the top of the menu, you set which language you speak and which you are learning. Stories, vocabulary, and translations are based on that.
In the word popup, there’s now a subtle button that translates the whole sentence. Handy when a single word isn’t enough to understand the context.
Click on any word and you get the translation that fits the sentence. Words you've looked up once are immediately available next time.
Let Curila know how well you understood the Story after reading. This helps you find the right level and helps us categorize the Stories better.
When uploading your own text, Curila automatically translates the words. You can also add your own translations.
No more remembering passwords: You get a code via email and you're in. Registration and login are the same step.
